Braddell Heights Civil Defence Executive Committee (CDEC) has been in service for the past 16 years since the early eighties. It was named before Civil Defence Co-ordinating Committee (CDCC) when it was first formed on 4th January 1984.

On the 1st August 1998 marked the day that the committee transferred to the People's Association and thereafter rename its organization as Braddell Heights CDEC.

Braddell Heights CDEC also received the "Most Active CDCC AWARD" in year 1990, 1991 and 1998.

One of the significant achievement of the then Braddell Heights CDCC was the formation of the first Women Volunteer Company. In January 1986, the Women Sub-Committee (WSC) of Braddell Heights brought up the idea of establishing a Volunteer Company comprising women only and this was supported by the CDCC. The organization has a total of one hundred and three professionals which includes students, housewives and workers and the populations have increased over the years.

On the 8th March 1987 which was also the International Women's Day marks the launching of Singapore's first Women Volunteer Civil Defence Company. In view of the re-organisation, the members is now absorbed into Braddell Heights Volunteer Unit. To date, Braddell Heights CDEC has recruited and trained some 1,237 volunteers and another 64 Volunteer Leaders.

Since the implementation of the Community Safety and Security Programme in 1998, the Braddell Heights CDEC aims to conduct more public education programmes to enhance the safety and security awareness of the residents.
